Cold storage tank

The principle of a cold storage tank is mainly to use the phase transition process of substances to absorb and release heat. The interior of a cold storage tank usually contains a substance called a cold storage agent, which can undergo a phase transition at a specific temperature, from a solid state to a liquid or gas state, or vice versa. When the cold storage tank absorbs heat, the cold storage agent undergoes a phase change, absorbing a large amount of heat, thereby causing the temperature inside the cold storage tank to decrease; When it is necessary to release cold energy, the cold storage agent will release the absorbed heat, thereby increasing the temperature inside the cold storage tank. ‌

The functions of a cold storage tank include the following aspects:
Storage and release of cooling capacity: In many situations, it is necessary to provide a large amount of cooling capacity over a period of time, but highpower refrigeration equipment cannot be maintained continuously. Cold storage tanks store cold energy in advance and release it when needed to meet the cooling demand for a certain period of time, thereby reducing the operating time and energy consumption of refrigeration equipment.

Balancing the load of the refrigeration system: In some refrigeration systems, due to different cooling demands at different time periods, there may be an imbalance in the operating time of the refrigeration equipment. By using a cold storage tank, excess cold can be stored in the tank during low peak periods and then released during peak periods, balancing the load of the refrigeration system and improving its efficiency and stability.

Reduce operating costs: In the daily operation of data centers, cold storage tanks combined with peak and valley electricity prices can be used to reduce operating costs. During the low electricity price period at night, utilize low electricity prices for charging and cooling operations; During the peak electricity price period during the day, turn off the refrigeration equipment and use the reserved cooling capacity in the cold storage tank for cooling operations, thereby effectively reducing operating costs. ‌

Emergency cold source: In the event of power interruption or equipment failure, the cold storage tank can serve as an emergency cold source to ensure that IT equipment will not experience high temperature alarms or downtime due to normal cold source failures. By reasonable design and control, the cold storage tank can be maximized to improve the performance and energy efficiency of the refrigeration system.

Application scenarios include industrial refrigeration, commercial refrigeration, data centers, and other fields. In these fields, cold storage tanks can meet the cooling needs of different time periods and improve the efficiency and stability of the system through reasonable design and control.
