The tank body is welded into a cylindrical or spherical shape using highquality highstrength steel plates. Spherical tanks have low steel consumption and uniform stress distribution. However, the processing, installation, and welding of spherical tanks are more difficult than cylindrical tanks, so they are generally only used in situations where the storage pressure is higher. The two ends of the cylindrical tank are equipped with elliptical or hemispherical heads. When using an elliptical head, in order to make the strength of the head equal to that of the tank body, the ratio of the long and short axes of the ellipse can be taken as 2:1.
